RECCOMENDED COACHING METHODOLOGY

“It’s not so much the coaching of soccer that people find difficult, many times it’s the fact that were just not sure that the kids understand what we are trying to do!

Here are some simple steps to ensure your practice runs efficiently and effectively

1.    Have a plan: - as simple as something written down on paper will allow your session to run smoothly. You have all heard the 5 P’s Proper planning prevents poor performances.

2.    Avoid Line drills: - Kids tune out often, the more down time a child has the more they will not listen. Small groups work well with maximum participation.

3.    Reward: - All children respond to well to positive reinforcement, if a player does something good stop the session and reward him/her by getting them to replicate what they did in front of their peers.

4.    Progressions: - all sessions need to progress. Your session must have a warm up/technical, fundamental/tactical stage and a game related stage.

Technical; - the How

Fundamental/Tactical:-the when and where

Game related: - the big picture, closely replicating the overall game.
